The NFRC Document Cycle and
Ballot Cycle for ANSI/NFRC 100, ANSI/NFRC 200, and ANSI/NFRC 400

NFRC Program Documents are reaffirmed annually.

NFRC Technical Documents are on a three-year cycle.

For a majority of the NFRC documents, balloted language that is approved by membership is implemented as quickly as possible. Implementation may be delayed due to required changes in NFRC software, analysis of costs associated with implementation, or other reason. Ballots that are pending implementation are listed HERE.

ANSI/NFRC documents are also on a three-year cycle. Balloted changes to these documents are held for the next scheduled public review. Public reviews are scheduled to occur at the beginning of each document cycle and then following ANS Standards Committee and Board of Directors determination of the urgency of implementation mid-cycle.

The schedule for the document cycle, the ballot cycles included prior to each cycle, and the estimated public review period are as follows:

ANSI/NFRC Document Cycle  Ballot Cycles to be Included ANSI Reaffirmation
 2017 Document Cycle Fall 2015, Spring 2016, Fall 2016 January - March 2017
     Mid-cycle Option* Spring 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018 June - August 2018
2020 Document Cycle Fall 2018, Spring 2019, Fall 2019 January - March 2020
     Mid-cycle Option* Spring 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021  June - August 2021
2023 Document Cycle Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Fall 2022 January - March 2023
     Mid-cycle Option* Spring 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2024 June - August 2024

 * The mid-cycle option is not guaranteed. The ANS Standards Committee recommended to the NFRC Board to Approve three year cycle with 18-month, mid-cycle review of addenda and determination of possible mid-cycle ANSI review at that time. If the ANS Standards Committee and/or the NFRC Board of Directors opts not to have the mid-cycle review, all ballots will be held until the next document cycle review.

If you have any questions about the NFRC document cycle, the ANS Standards Committee, or the ANSI process, please contact Robin Merrifield at 240-821-9513.
